Ride The Wanted Trail is an intended full feature western movie, 90 min, and loaded with western action, and an exciting original story that will have you wanting to get on your horse and ride along. It is a family friendly film that will not have any sexually explicit scenes or "F" words, but will be loaded with real western action, stunts, and only some moderately harsh language from some of the "bad guy" characters, to keep the authenticity of the story. The film will be a PG-13 rating. Read more about our film, and watch the trailers, and watch for our film to come. Pard. Movies, TV, and film production. Our 1930's stile vintage western The Shooting. On sale now."The Shooting, story of the Kane Brothers"
Our award winning western movie, produced by Groat Family Productions, directed by Rick Groat, produced by Tag Groat. Featured on Entertainment Tonight. 12 awards from the Southern CA Motion Picture Council. The Shooting story of the Kane Brothers is a beautiful old time family western movie, shot in the style of films of the 1930's , with heroes and bad guys, action, shootouts, and a love story. The film has all the look and flavor of such films as early Silver screenr, and classic TV westernsil, with old Hollywood type wardrobe and big hats, and big characters. The action is in the same manner, with lots of good old fist fighting scenes and horse chases, and the big shootout scene that arrives at the end of the story is everything a western fan could want. There is a love story within the plot, with warm and heart felt tones. Does the hero gets the girl at the end? This film has rough and tumble action, with men of few words ( Rick Groat ), and ( Tag Groat ) , and a very mean and nasty villain , and a sweet look and feel that of the old western classics that gives the viewer a genuine example of old time filmmaking. The Shooting, Story of the Kanes, is authentically filmed on 16 mm, just like they did it in the '30s, and it is not only a good film, but a tribute to the old time western movie. Short bio for Rick Groat. Writer, producer, director of The Shooting story of the Kane Brothers. And history of the first film. Rick Groat Actor Website: here
I am an actor, writer, producer, and director, specializing in westerns. As an actor, starting in 1964, I have over 40 film, TV and live performance credits ranging from a background extra to starring rolls giving me over 49 years of experience. Some of my work can be seen on TV shows like Wild West Tech where I played many cowboy types or on the back of a horse in other westerns like Brothers in Arms where I portrayed a gunfighter. I am a member of Screen Actors Guild but have also worked in many other areas of film production including behind the scenes as well as in front of the camera. I also have performed a great number of live shows with my family in the Groat Family Wild West Show. My film credits include Terror on Shadow Mountain (director/producer/writer/star), Eagles Law (producer/star) Devil Rider (producer/star), and How the west was lost (co producer/star).
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with many talented people and have learned the craft from my own experiences, from fellow film makers, and from my own family. My mother, Gypsy Bell Groat, was a child actor for MGM in the 1940s, and my Grandfather, Clifford Groat, was a director for the old silent films and early talkies at Pathé Studios. I grew up wanting to be an actor, and movie maker. For my love of westerns, I wrote the script for - The Shooting - Story of the Kane Brothers, and set out with my family to produce it as an independent film. As a producer and director I have written several scripts, produced and directed my own features, film shorts, videos, and films for other producers, but the project I am most proud of is this one, The Shooting, as it is very close to my heart, and we did it as a family. I also work as an educator with special needs children for the Simi Valley School District, and I love my work. Most importantly, I am a father and husband, and enjoy and consider that work to be more important than anything. I teach art, and sing - when no one is too close to hear me, that is. I own, and perform in, “The Groat Family Wild West Show” and have been since 1963. I love to tell a good story, and I also sometimes illustrate children's books.
“I see our western film history as an important part of our American roots, and one of the foundations of our artistic culture.” — Rick Groat .

Credits. Gypsy Bell Groat. Actor, singer, dancer, model. This is my mom, and I am proud of it.
Gypsy started in films as a child actor for the old MGM studios in the contract days in the 1940's, and performed with her friends Liz Taylor, Judy Garland, Shirley Temple, and Mickey Rooney. At the of 15 she was a photo model and dancer, and was one of the most sought after print model's of her time, and was ranked with Page, Taylor, and the like. Most of hef print has been lost, and we ar doing a search to find any we can, but we have a fer here. Her early films were musicals as part of the dancers. At the age of 16, ahe decided to get out of films to raise my brother and myself. After a few years, in 1963 I got my first job as an actor in Combat, a TV show of the 60's, and met an old silent film cowboy Jessie J. James who put me into his Wild west show. Soon I was heading it up, and my mom was eager to join, and she sonn became the leading western dancer, singer, and director of the western girls in the show. Then, in 1964 we started our family show "Groat Family Wild West Show", and through the years did many TV, film, and show performances. Gypsy has 0ver 5,000 live shows, 5 TV spots, 5 movies of our own productions, and 10 other film credits along with her old MGM films. Here you can see just a few of her pics.
Take not of the vintage ones: The pic of her as a young child from the early MGM days. The photos of her are from the 40's to now. The pic of her with the two children , (myself, and brother) when she decided to get out of films to raise us. She has performed as Dancing girls, Gypsy's, Western girls, Gun gal's, Native American, Pirate Queens, and everything in between. Take note of her standing while I put the bullwhip around her, that is the real thing, and she ahs done the same as I take small two inch sticks from her mouth. And has held items as I shot them from her hands. She is a true actor, and performer. And yes, she even had a date with Will Shatner. Email us for contact. A photo history of the Groat's in film. Beginning in 1922.
|
Our family film history Started in the early 1920's. My family started in films in 1922, and is on going today, over 92 years. Have a look at the slide show on the left. We have film mamking, acting, and westerns in our blood. This will show how the film making and acting bug bit us. These photos are my Grandfather (my dads father), Cliff Groat, a Scott who was the son of a log splitter who became an engineer on the Erie Canal in the late 1800'3. Cliff Groat was many rhings, and I never knew him till I was 12 years old, and only talked with him 8 times over a 10 year period due to my Mother and Father's divorce when I was 2 years old. As I grew up, I was around mostly a western way of life, as my mothers father had a ranch in Simi Valley CA and I spent many summers on a horse, or tending to cows and farm animals, and loved being a cowboy. When I saw my first western movie, I knew I wanted to act in westerns, and as I grew I loved art, and became very good at it, and also took up the guitar, banjo, and drums. When I was 14 I did my first western as an extra. I never knew about my Grandfather's artistic, and film work till I was much older, when my Father Bob Groat shared with me these photos, and then I knew why I had so much love and feeling for the thing I did. Cliff Groat was an extra/stuntman for silent films starting in 1922, and later an actor, then becam a Director and film maker for Pathe Studios in the silent, and early talkies. He did many films, mostly westerns, and some of them he directed, acted, did his own stunts, and helped build the sets. Here are the only photo records of that time, starting in the early 1920's. Have a look at some film making, and Groat history. I will be adding more.
